How to use these guides

Start with the job, then compare the product. A floor-only robot can be a sensible choice for one pool and a poor fit for another. A test kit with more advertised “ways” can still omit the CYA reading you need. A familiar chemical brand can sell several formulations that require different doses.

Each guide names its sources, explains the limits of the shortlist and includes reasons to choose a different option. These are comparisons of published information, not physical testing or a survey of every product on sale.

Need the numbers first?

Our seven free pool calculators help with pool volume, salt, chlorine, shock planning, alkalinity, stabilizer and water-balance priorities. You do not have to buy a recommended product to use any tool.

Read how we compare and our commercial disclosure before using a recommendation.
